Reserves edged out by Rogerstone at the Motazone

A single second-half goal settled Friday night’s Gwent Premier Combination League game at the Motazone Arena, Rogerstone taking the points in a tight contest.
Cwmbran Celtic Reserves were beaten 1–0 by Rogerstone AFC Reserves at the Motazone Arena on Friday evening, a second-half goal from Sebastian Bowen settling a game that had little between the sides.
It stayed goalless through a competitive first half, and Celtic were still level when Jacob Pritchard turned to his bench on 61 minutes, Rhys Jones replacing Cam Williams. Ten minutes later the deadlock went: Bowen finished from a Daniel Butler pass to put the visitors in front.
Celtic made a change at the same minute, Daniel Madge on for Sam Smith, and Harri Pritchard came on for Brooklyn Lee with seven minutes left, but the equaliser would not come.
Jamie Pring captained the side from goal, behind a back line that gave Rogerstone very little all evening — this was the tightest of the Reserves’ three games so far, and only the second time in the league that the side has been beaten by a single goal.
It is a third defeat from three to start the campaign, and the first time this season the Reserves have finished a game without scoring. There is plenty to build on, though: a young squad that has now played two league games and a cup tie inside a fortnight, against a Rogerstone side they have already met twice.
Cwmbran Celtic Reserves: Jamie Pring (c), Bailey Goodall, Brooklyn Lee, Jamie Williams, Evan Prosser, Sam Smith, Joe Barber, Jack Prosser, Cam Williams, Daniel Camaj, Jacob Cook.
Substitutes: Rhys Jones, Daniel Madge, Harri Pritchard, Tobias Williams-Dunne, Jack Shepard.
