Match Report

Cwmbran Celtic bounced back from their dismal defeat by bottom placed Ynyshir Albions last Saturday to record a shock 2-1 victory which severely dented Ferry’s prospects of finishing runners-up in the Cymru South. In doing so Celtic ended Ferry’s home sequence of 17 games unbeaten in league and cup this season.
Ferry were quickly out of the traps applying immediate pressure on the Celtic goal but our boys calmly withstood the onslaught and gradually got into the game. The score remained goalless until the 57 th minute when Lewis Iles headed home Tom Meechan’s free kick. Luke Bowen equalised on 64 minutes but Iles regained the lead for Celtic in the 77th minute heading Kian Bodenham’s cross into the net for his 20th goal of the season. Celtic were indebted to a fine display from returning keeper Lewis Watkins including a superb double save to keep his goal intact.
