Match Report
Our 1st round Welsh Cup game against Wattsville was transferred to Llantarnam School because of the poor weather and it was little more than a training session for us and we cantered to a 19-0 win. It’s worth noting that our Reserves beat Wattsville 2-1 in September in the SWGGL Division 2 so the visitors knew they were in for a stern examination which they pluckily did their best to resist.
Summer Bowen-Quirk again captained the side with Eloise Meaney on the bench. We were two up in the 1st minute through goals by Ellie Bidhendy and Lauren Boyd and were 9-0 up at half-time, Lauren scoring 5 including a penalty for a trip on Alex Cridland. Lauren also had 3 assists in the game. We fielded 20-year-old striker Casey Daniels who has joined from Briton Ferry. She has fond memories of playing against Celtic having scored twice for her previous club Penybont in last season’s SWFA League Cup final win. She was the competition’s top scorer last season with 9 goals and she showed she knows where the back of the net is on Sunday with 4 goals on her debut. In the 2nd half it was more of the same from us and we added 10 more goals with Gracie Grosvenor grabbing 4 as well as 2 assists. Hollie Channing missed a penalty in the closing minutes after she was bundled over in the box.
