CELTIC “TRUNDLED” AT AMMANFORD

AMMANFORD 3 CWMBRAN CELTIC 2

Cwmbran Celtic were hoping for a repeat of last season’s 3-2 win at Ammanford but although the scoreline was the same, the home side came out on top this time, mainly thanks to the skills of Lee Trundle. The 45-year-old ex-Swansea pro opened the scoring in the 8th minute. Lewis Iles equalised on 40 minutes. Tom Meechan’s through ball found keeper Marsh way off his line, Lewis nipped in, evaded Marsh’s despairing hand and steered the ball into the empty net. On the stroke of half time Trundle turned provider for Langley to score from close range. Celtic were indebted to a string of fine saves by Joe Regan to keep them in the game and the reward was an equaliser in the 57th minute, Iles converting a cross from the left by Alex McDowell for his 10th goal of the season. On 69 minutes defender Rhys Fisher scored the winner for the hosts. The referee awarded a corner when the ball clearly came off an Ammanford player and Fisher scored from the cross.

This was Celtic’s 5th successive league game without a win and with our nearest rivals in the table all picking up more points than us in recent weeks, we drop to 11th place in the table.
