Apr 25, 2024

The 1st team ended their season with a great send-off for manager James Kinsella. Their 3rd successive home win 3-1 versus Goytre United lifted them 2 places to finish 9th in the table. Lewis Iles gave Celtic a 1st half lead. Goytre equalised on 80 minutes but 2 late goals from Alex Bonthron secured the points for Celtic. His 2nd goal on 90+8 minutes was the last kick of the match & clinched him the Cymru South golden boot.

This was Tom Meechan’s 100th game – his 19 assists make him top of the Cymru South chart – a unique double for him & Alex. Alex’s 30 goals took him to 50 for Celtic in 61 games. His 30 goals were a club record most goals in a tier 2 season beating Chris Ham’s 28 goals in 2017/18.

On Sunday the Youth team thumped hosts Blaenavon Blues 7-0. Goals by Oscar Balkwill 3, Chris Griffin 2, Gabriel Howells & Aaron Oakley keep Celtic in 3rd place in the table.

The Ladies Development were awarded the game against 1st Division Splott Albion 1-0 in the League Shield because the visitors could not raise a side. Celtic will play Newport City in the semi-final next weekend.

The Under 12 Girls lost 2-1 at Abertillery Belles.
