Meaney double caps Women’s Reserves’ 5-1 win

Two goals and two assists for Lydia Meaney as the Reserves run riot at the Motazone.

Cwmbran Celtic Women’s Reserves beat Coed Eva Athletic 5-1 at the Motazone Arena on Sunday in the SWWGL Development League, with Lydia Meaney involved in four of the five goals.

Jessica Bessell opened the scoring on 22 minutes and Nevaeh Cole doubled the lead three minutes later from Meaney’s assist. Meaney set up the third too, for Teagan Eley on 52, before scoring twice herself — on 77 from Aimee Henson’s pass, and in the fifth minute of stoppage time from Daisy Thomas.

Coed Eva’s reply came through captain Aliina Barrett on 88, assisted by Tegan Williams.

Hayleigh Anthony captained Celtic, who kept the same eleven on the pitch throughout. No cards were shown by referee Andrew Phillips.
