Match Report
Cwmbran Celtic are out of the Welsh Cup, beaten at the Motazone Arena by a Newport Corinthians side who needed two minutes to settle a tie that had gone seventy-eight without a goal. It was goalless at the break and still goalless with a quarter of an hour left. Then Jayden Ward scored from the penalty spot on 78, and by 80 he had a second and the tie. Celtic had a goal left in them. Arthur Furness met a Munya Mabwe pass on 86 to make it 1–2 and give the closing minutes an edge, but the equaliser that would have forced a replay never came. Terry Obeng captained the side in front of 105. Jamie Pring started in goal and was replaced by Lewis Watkins on 52, and Daniel Camaj came on for Rhys Thomas ten minutes after that, with Elliott Hewings, Joe Barber, Cameron Jenkins and Gabriel Howells unused. Referee Jason Lewis showed one card all afternoon, to Newport's Luc Noble on 65. It ends the run at the second qualifying round. Newport Corinthians are back at the Motazone on 19 September, in the league.
