Match Report
The Vets are through to the second round of the Workwear Supermarket O40s Cup, and they got there the hard way — level in the third minute of stoppage time through David Fullagar, then 4-3 winners on penalties at the Motazone Arena.
Nothing separated the sides through a goalless first half. Six minutes after the interval Peter Scarfi put Celtic ahead from Gareth Stacey's pass, and the lead lasted nine minutes: Gavin Chappell equalised on the hour, set up by the Tata Steel captain Lee McLachlan. Richard Williams turned the tie around on 80 from Matthew Johnson's ball, and with the cup exit in sight Fullagar met a Scarfi pass in the 93rd minute to force the shootout.
Both of Celtic's goals came from the same pair, and both of Tata Steel's from their substitute and their number ten. Neither referee Tom Wise nor the record shows a single card in the ninety-three minutes.
Dean Taylor captained the side, with Paul Taylor in goal. The official record does not name the takers — that one is for whoever was behind the goal.
