Five-goal first half sinks Celtic at Chepstow

Camaj and Obeng reply, but the leaders had the game won by the break at Larkfield Park
Cwmbran Celtic were beaten 5-2 by Ardal South East leaders Chepstow Town on Saturday, in a game settled by a first half in which the hosts scored five times.

Nathan Rose put Chepstow ahead after six minutes from Mike Murphy’s pass, and the game ran away from Celtic in a seven-minute spell midway through the half. Joshua Parsons scored on 25, Chris Ham on 27 and Sonny Lewis on 32, each goal laid on by the scorer of the last. Ham added his second, and Chepstow’s fifth, in first-half stoppage time.

Celtic had already lost Rudi Griffiths, replaced by Cameron Dean on 17 minutes, and Daniel Camaj had come on for Finlay Wood on 41. Camaj pulled a goal back before the break from Oliver Berry’s assist, and Berry provided again on 61 for captain Terry Obeng to make it 5-2.

Elliott Hewings and Charlie Donovan came on for Cameron Jenkins and Kian Saunders on 67. Chepstow picked up three yellow cards to Celtic’s none.

Referee Scott Brown was assisted by Gary Greenslade and Gavin Harris, in front of a crowd of 154.
