Match Report
We put on a most impressive performance in beating Taffs Well last Sunday. Such was our domination that keeper Amie Preston-Roberts hardly touched the ball. Macey Morris has made her mark since her return from injury and she was quickly into action here in the opening quarter twice charging down the left wing, firstly to bring a save from the Wellmen’s keeper Ainsworth-Bibey and then watching her shot past the keeper go agonisingly the wrong side of the upright. Midway through the 1st half our midfield put together a superb attack started by a throw from Summer Bowen-Quirk and continued by short crisp passing between Cerys Shipley, Summer again, Jodie Challenger and Gracie Grosvenor whose cross was hit over the bar by Fiona Anthony. As half time approached Grosvenor shot wide, Cerys Shipley’s shot was deflected for a corner and Jodie Challenger intercepted a clearance and her shot was saved by the keeper.
In the 49th minute we found the net at last with another fine move started by the irrepressible Summer Bowen-Quirk and continued by Shipley and Grosvenor who put Morris in to score off the post. Summer then set up another attack from which Fiona Anthony played Morris in to shoot over the bar. Morris and Anthony then laid siege on the home goal and the ball was scrambled away by some desperate defending by the home defence. On 72 minutes we scored our 2nd goal when Cerys Pinchard played a long ball down the middle where substitute Lauren Boyd showed her class and perfect timing with a first time punt into the net. Lauren and another substitute Hollie Channing both shot over the bar in the closing minutes.
We are playing great football at present. This win takes us to 4th place in the league table.
