AN AWAY TIE IN LEAGUE CUP ROUND 4 - UPDATED NOTICE

Cwmbran Celtic have drawn Briton Ferry Llansawel away in the 4th round of the League Cup.

Our opponents are back in the Welsh League 1st Division this season, regaining their place after they were relegated in 2014/15 despite finishing 4th from bottom, to make way for a relegated Welsh Premier side. Celtic suffered the same fate in 2013/14.

BFL is an amalagamtion of the old Briton Ferry and Llansawel clubs which took place in 2009/10. Celtic took 4 points from Llansawel in their 2006/7 Division 3 championship winning season and lost 0-2 away in the League Cup round 2.

The following season, 2007/8 Celtic, now in Division 2, drew with and beat Briton Ferry.

Celtic are not having much luck in recent seasons with the cup draws. With us drawing Gap Connahs Quay away in the Welsh Cup we have had seven away draws out of our last 8 ties, bringing back memories of our 15 successive away ties between 2008/9 and 2011/12.

The draw for Round 4 of the Cup is as follows

Pontypridd Town v Aberbargoed Buds

AFC Llwydcoed v Llanelli Town

STM Sports v Trefelin BGC

Briton Ferry Llansawel v Cwmbran Celtic

Matches to be played Friday/Saturday January 12th/13th 2018
